Hey guys, Julie here, soon to be resident blogger over at the tattoo removal cream guide. (Just waiting for that big pay raise, ya know? )

Today I want to talk about two things, centered around two readers questions we recently received: one, on how to cover up a tattoo cheaply, and two, asking about where can you buy a product to hide your tattoo.

Good questions!

The first question logically leads to the second, so let’s just dive into both.

How Can I Cover Up My Tattoo and How Can I Do It For Cheap?
If you’re asking this question, you almost certainly are looking for a less expensive option that cheap tattoo removal cream. Additionally, you probably want to cover your tattoo NOW, right – not in 2 months, 6 months, or a year from now, which is how long it can take to fully fade a tattoo.

Nope, you guys want to cover up a tattoo and want to do it cheaply. I don’t blame you! Maybe you’ve got a wedding to go to, a job interview, or some other reason where it’s to your benefit to hide or conceal your tattoo work.

Now, unless you were referring to a tattoo cover-up job, I’m assuming this question refers to the use of make up or other skin products to conceal a tattoo without removing it or masking it with additional tattoos.

In other words, you need a product that’s known as tattoo concealer.

OK, so where can I buy a product to hide a tattoo?

Lucky for you I’m going to list a whole bunch of products sold just for the purpose of concealing and covering up a tattoo with makeup. All of these products are available from Amazon and you can buy them by clicking on the links in the list.

1. Kat Von D Tattoo Concealer Cost: $25

This simple concealer provides for a four step process to cover up tattoos (or blemishes/dark circles). The thing about this tattoo concealer that you should know is that it’s gotten some very bad reviews at Amazon, so… let’s move on to better ones!

2. Covermark Tattoo Cover Kit Cost: $33.95

This tattoo cover up kit from Covermark gets two thumbs up. Most users find it blends well and covers up their tattoos. One catch: you gotta spend some time on it. It’s not like putting on a band aid! But it works very well once you get the hang of how to apply it.

3. Tattoo Cover by Ben Nye Cost: $9.00

Here’s another super cheap option for concealing a tattoo. The catch with this one? It doedsn’t work as good as the more expensive ones. But you probably had a hunch on that already, eh? I’m noticed a trend here…

4. 24-7 Instant Tattoo, Bruise & Scar Cover-up Kit Cost: $63.95

Here we have the most expensive tattoo cover up make up on the list:the 24-7 Instant Tattoo Cover Up Kit by Lip Ink International. This high quality product is organic, kosher, and even vegan for christs sake! It’s guaranteed to be smearproof & semi-permanent. The only thing about it that’s bad is that there are few reviews of it online. Is it as great as it sounds? Does it work? Please leave a comment below if you’re going to try or have tried this product; we’d love to hear how it goes.

5. Tatjacket Tattoo Cover-up Sleeves (Size Large) (Tan) Cost: $19.95

Here we have something a little bit different than the first four tattoo cover up items – this is actually something you wear on your sleeves to cover up the tattoos beneath them. This would be a very good item to wear say if your professional outfit is, to some extent, see through enough so that your tattoo sleeves are visible through your dress shirt. Wearing this underneath your shirt would mean the difference between your tattoos showing and not showing! It’s also a lot more comfortable and breathable than layering up with extra clothes in effort to accomplish the same effect.

So there you have it. 6 methods for how to cover up a tattoo cheaply – none of them hurt, none of them are permanent, and none of them cost much money.

If you’re reading this and you’ve used any of these products, please tell us how easy (or not easy) it was to conceal your tattoo! Thanks.

What is Wrecking Balm?
Wrecking Balm – called a “Tattoo Fade – Removal System” by its manufacturer, is applied via a 3 step process that takes under 5 minutes a day, the results of which claim to gradually fade or altogether remove a tattoo from your skin. Wrecking Balm states that its ingredients are FDA-approved, and will safely remove the upper layers of the skin, breaking up the tattooed ink pigments, and thus, over repeated treatments, fade and/or remove the tattoo.

The product consists of a gel, cream, concealer, an “erosion head”, and a “DemoMatic.”

And how is it supposed to work?
According to Wrecking Balm, it works by using…

“….an FDA-approved mechanical hand-held medical device that gently, but effectively, removes the upper layers of the epidermis (outer skin layer). The second step uses a chemical serum that penetrates deep into the underlying lower layers, breaking up the cellular matrix in which the ink pigments are imbedded.”

And then:

“It takes 4 to 6 weeks for cells to naturally regenerate and complete one cycle. This skin cell renewal process is the key as the ink injected cells work their way to the surface for removal. WreckingBalm® safely works not only to break up the ink pigments, but to expedite the process of removal.”

The company claims its product is “devastatingly effective” and offers a free trial along with a money back guarantee, and free phone and email support for its users.

Where can I buy Wrecking Balm??

Wrecking Balm snippets, according to the manufacturer:

Can remove a tattoo in as little as two months, especially if its an “amateur tattoo”
Usage can sometimes result in minor irritation or a burning sensation to the skin
Is effective on all skin types
Should not be used on any tattoos that are less than 6 months old
